The Team Behind the SwimCount Sperm Quality Test

In 2010, Jacob Mollenbach and Steen Laursen came up with a bold vision. With more than 15 years of experience within the field of infertility, Steen as a researcher and co-owner of a fertility clinic, and Jacob as an R&D manager, they founded MotilityCount ApS in Denmark - dedicated to helping couples to have a baby.

SwimCount - an advanced home sperm test kit that measures sperm quality (motility) as well as sperm count, received accreditation in May 2015, having been independently reviewed by scientific and medical experts, and subsequently awarded the CE mark by the British Standards Institute (BSi) according to the In-Vitro Diagnostics Regulations (IVDR).

MotilityCount ApS was founded in 2011 by entrepreneurs and scientists with many years of experience in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). MotilityCount has developed the SwimCount™ Sperm Quality Test - an at-home test as an aid to the early diagnosis of male fertility, SwimCount™ SpermCare - a dietary supplement, and the SwimCount™ Harvester - an innovative microfluidic purification method that can improve treatment outcomes in IUI, IVF, and ICSI.

SwimCount is currently manufactured in Denmark by MotilityCount in an ISO13485:2016 accredited facility for the manufacture of medical devices.

JR Biomedical Ltd, based in North Wales assisted with the preparation of the English language instructions and packaging and was appointed as the official UK distributor to supply SwimCount to pharmacies and online customers in the UK.

JR Biomedical is an ISO13485 certified medical device company, founded in 2005 by immunodiagnostics developer Dr John Rees.
